AC/DC Today: Back In Black Released July 1980

33 years ago today, on July 25 1980 AC/DC releases "Back in Black". The album has gone on to sell almost 50 million copies worldwide, the 2nd best selling album ever.
Home to many of AC/DC's most recognizable tracks, namely "You Shook Me All Night Long", "Hells Bells", "Shoot To Thrill", "Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution", and of course the title track, "Back In Black" was written, recorded and released in just under 5 months after the untimely death of singer Bon Scott.
After recruiting Brian Johnson as their new singer, AC/DC ventured to Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas with producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange, and the result would later become the best selling hard rock album of all time. In December of 2007, "Back In Black" was certified 22x multiplatinum by the RIAA in the U.S., qualifying the double-diamond-plus selling album as the fourth top selling album of all time in the United States to date.
