On February 23rd 1976, AC/DC filmed the now infamous video for their classic
rock ‘n roll anthem “It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna
Rock ‘N Roll)". The video for the song was filmed for the Australian TV
show “Countdown” and featured the band on the back of a flatbed
truck which drove down Swanston Street in Melbourne. Bon Scott, complete with
bag pipes was also joined by members of the Rats of Tobruk Pipe Band. A second
video of the song was also filmed that day at Melbourne’s city square,
which is available on AC/DC’s “Backtracks”
box set.
In 2004, Corporation Lane which is near Swanston Street was officially renamed
to ACDC Lane.
