AC/DC Album Of The Month: If You Want Blood Youve Got It

Our AC/DC album of the month is the 1978 live album “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)”, recorded live during AC/DC’s 1978 “Powerage” tour, the majority of the album from the concert performance at Glasgow, Scotland’s Apollo Theater on April 30th 1978. The album cover depicts an impaled Angus Young  leaning back with the neck of his Gibson SG protruding from his gut…Bon Scott leaning in closely leering in to his microphone. The backside of the album shows the deserted stage, Angus lying face down in front of Phil Rudd’s drum kit, the guitar neck piercing out of his bloodied back.

The album’s raw sound has always made it a top choice in many fans favorite album lists. The only official live AC/DC album with Bon Scott on vocals, the album contains 10 tracks beginning with a blistering rendition of “Riff Raff” which opened the Glasgow concert, the video recording of this song can be found on AC/DC’s “Family Jewels” DVD release. “Dog Eat Dog” was not available on the album, but would be released as a ‘B side for AC/DC’s “Whole Lotta Rosie” single, which became available worldwide on 2009’s “Backtracks” release.

On this day, January 27th 1980, Bon Scott performed his very last concert on stage with AC/DC at the Gaumont Theatre in Southampton, England.
