Our May AC/DC fan of the month is Carole Limoges from Ottawa, Canada and who has been an AC/DC fan for over 20 years.
Carole's first AC/DC memory was while visiting her cousins and "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" was on the tapedeck she says "we were rewinding it during Big Balls trying to learn the guitar parts. The lyrics had them in stitches but I was too young to understand."
Choosing a favorite AC/DC album and favorite AC/DC song is no easy feat among die-hard AC/DC fans. Carole says it's a toss up between "Let There Be Rock" and "Powerage" for her favorite album "although none collect dust on my shelf!", and naming her favorite AC/DC tracks include "Let There Be Rock", "Riff Raff", "Kicked In The Teeth", "Carry Me Home", "Hail Caesar", and "Spellbound."
Through the years Carole amassed a small collection of AC/DC things like patches and t-shirts especially. Carole has more than 30 patches on her jean jacket which is now running out of space to put more. She says "One of my favorite t-shirts I got at my first concert and has Beavis & Butthead on the graphic u-huhuhuh!"
Carole didn't get to catch any of the AC/DC shows during the "Stiff Upper Lip" tour as she was never in the right place at the time, always traveling and working as an apprentice chef. Then in 2003, she attended the "Sarsfest" in Toronto, she says "and witnessed how AC/DC stole the day in front of half a million strong. That's when I knew I had to see a few shows on the next tour". While AC/DC was taking a break from touring she traveled to the UK to the "Big Ball" AC/DC Tribute convention and she met a myriad of AC/DC fans from all over the globe and attended the event the following 2 years. Carole says "The wait for "Black Ice" was long but well worth it, and I managed to see 35 concerts in 29 cities through North America, Europe & Australia. I never thought I'd make it to so many gigs let alone have the chance to put flowers on Bon's grave site in Fremantle. I got to meet the band on a few occasions and it's so true how they really are great; down to earth guys who have a real passion for rock and roll and always have time for the fans."
In closing, Carole says that traveling to new places, meeting fellow AC/DC fans and friends is amazing...and that she can't wait for the next tour! "I'd like to see a concert in South America. I like it when the crowd is so pumped, energized & it's Standing G.A.- no seats on the floor. After seeing the crowd on the DVD Live At River Plate I wanted to be there jumping with them. Let There Be Rock!"
