On March 16th, 1999, AC/DC received their first Diamond Award from the RIAA. Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams were present in New York City to accept the award for the bands album “Back In Black”, for sales of 10 million copies in the United States and was one of the first albums to receive the new Diamond award status. By 2004, AC/DC received their second diamond award for “Back In Black” for 20 million copies sold. The album has now sold well over 22 million copies in the U.S.A. scoring it in the top 5 best selling albums of all time in the U.S., and over 49 million worldwide, the second best selling album of any artist globally making it one of the most successful albums in music history.
